Pumpgirl Week Three

  • Mother Road Theatre Company (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Through interwoven monologues, Pumpgirl takes us deep into the unspoken thoughts and darkest desires of three lives in Northern Ireland. The title character is a butch gas station attendant described as a woman “who walks like John Wayne and looks like his horse.” She is the occasional lover of Hammy, an amateur racecar driver who is married to the lonely Sinead. These three lives intersect briefly and brutally, weaving threads together into a fearsome climax. Pumpgirl features Amy Bourque, Amy Suman and Shawn Patrick Boyd.

“Does anyone ever realize life while they live it...every, every minute?"

The story about two ordinary families living in adjacent houses in sleepy Grover’s Corners, N.H. in the early years of the 20th century has been described by many as the Great American Play.

The play details the everyday lives of those two families, the Gibbs and the Webbs. But underlying the events of their lives – marriages, births and deaths – is a hope for something more, a transcendental experience unique to the human condition.

PAGE TO STAGE OUR TOWN

ADMISSION IS FREE! Free food from Sadie's of New Mexico! Lots of interest in this Page to Stage so let us know you are coming by sending an email to info@MotherRoad.org so we save you a seat!

THE PATIO at Sadies of New Mexico

The Page to Stage is an intimate look at our process.

Meet the cast, director, designers, and dramaturge. You will get to hear the director’s vision, get a sneak peak of all design concepts from the design team and be given a brief presentation about the historical context/relevance of the play.

We will also read a few selected scenes from the play!

Our P2S program is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of “the process” and witness the arc of theatrical creation from the first moments of rehearsal to full scale production!
