At the age of ten, Michael Dolce first put pen to paper as a budding poet. His first outing was published as one of the finer examples of student poetry district-wide, beginning his life-long love affair with the written word. A year after that, in the 7th grade, at the recommendation of a family friend, Michael took to the stage for his first time. He has acted in plays unceasingly ever since.
While attending Manzano High School, Michael served as the President of the Thespian Society. He lettered a total of three times in high school, twice in drama and once for his participation on the speech team. In competition, Michael won numerous trophies, often for his very whimsical humorous interpretations of literature. After graduating, Michael attended Eastern New Mexico University, where he received his Bachelors in theatre, minoring in English and the humanities.
While in college, he served as Activities Director and Vice-President of Alpha Psi Omega, a nation-wide theatrical fraternity. In this position, he coordinated a number of fundraising events, including “MIRTH ON EARTH”, which raised thousands of dollars to assist in the care and treatment of a local woman suffering from cancer. He also served on several school boards and committees, often as the only student representative.
After leaving ENMU, Michael found his way to business management in the telemarketing and financial industries, and while he was proficient in these sorts of positions, he wasn’t entirely satisfied in them. To find more meaningful work, Michael became licensed to teach fine arts and language arts, and he has been teaching drama and English at the secondary level for five years. Along with theatre, education has become another of his passions. His work with Mother Road excites him greatly, because it affords him the opportunity to work in both arenas.
Around town, he has acted in numerous plays and in numerous venues, such as the Albuquerque Little Theatre, The Riverside (Now Tricklock), the Vortex and the Adobe Theatre. As a playwright, he has seen four of his plays produced, and he continues to write more. He is passionate about his love and respect for the beauty of the human spirit, and in as many capacities as possible, wishes to share this love and respect with everyone.
